I definitely wouldn't risk it unless you are 100% sure you're not ovulating for up to 5 days after that time. Some women can ovulate early in their cycle, and let's say you have sex on day 3 of your period and ovulate on day 8, you could very well have potential to get pregnant.
I hate to disagree with anyone, but there are women that do have a rare second ovulation during their menstrual cycle. But probably what is more common when a woman gets pregnant 'on her period' is that she has sex during her period and the sperm lives a few days and she ovulates a bit early== wa la, pregnant. There is NO safe time to have unprotected sex. There are less fertile times but no time that is guaranteed to be safe. good luck

You can only get pregnant when an egg has been fertilized by 1 sperm. There are millions released with one ejaculation. A viable egg has to be available to get fertilized.
