Brianna when you first get your period and for a few years afterward, it's very common, in fact extremely common, to have an irregular period. As the first poster stated, it's not unusual and you shouldn't worry too much about it. Typically it takes a few years for a girl's body to settle into a more consistent pattern every month but even still there are many for whom the irregularity never really settles down. But since you've only had your period a year, you shouldn't assume it will be ongoing yet. It's too soon to know until you've had your period longer than a year.
Seems you are you only 14 I think it would be best that you speak to your mum or a female you are close to. Failing that speak to a professional. Its not right for anyone to suggest to you at 14 you should wait 3 yrs unless that person is medically qualified.
Trust me the advice on this site is not the best. It was suggested to me I may have an STD when I infact had a prolapse!
Good luck. Hope you get sorted.
Once you start your period it can take several years to settle down into a regular "period". You shouldn't worry about it yet. If you get to be 17 and your periods are still all over the place or missing, then you should see a doctor.
