Please help! I woke up Monday with an awful vagina smell that I've never had!

So I have never had a problem with vagina odor until 3 days ago. I am 24 years old, my boyfriend and I have been together for 6 years, and I have been on the nuvaring for about 3 years now. I have never really had much of a scent down there and when I do, it isn't very strong and it's not a bad smell at all, my boyfriend actually loves my smell. We had sex on Sunday before I was due to put my nuvaring in that day and all was normal. Sunday night, I inserted my nuvaring and starting monday I have had the worst vagina odor ever. I smelled it Monday, washed it and went on my way but it doesn't go away. It is not a fishy smell, it is a foul rotten smell. My boyfriend and I were having sex last night and he smelled it and asked me about it. I told him it started Monday morning, I have no idea whats going on, he said "You've never had a bad odor down there, and this is awful, maybe its from your nuvaring."

I have been on my nuvaring for 3 years, why would it start to give me an odor now? But the odor did start on Monday and I put it in Sunday night, so I took my nuvaring out last night.

I'm worried because Ive had a few UTI's in my life and the reason I knew was because of the burning, but no odor, I have had a yeast infection before but I knew because of the itching, no odor.

All of a sudden I wake up Monday with the most awful vagina smell, after never having a problem like this in my life?

Please help, what on earth is going on?

Its not BV unless you are in pain during sex and have a odor. Nuvaring does the same thing with me , Once it is place for the first week you will get a smell and then it will go away . My GYN said its the hormones and bacteria mixing. Nothing to be worried about . Its just an annoyance. You can take Luke warm baths , eat more yogurt to prevent BV or a Yeast infection from starting. I never got BV or Yeast from the odor you smell during the first week on the nuvaring. its not a fishy smell almost like a medicine but not strong. You can smell it after sex or just during the day .

U have bv its common in women ive had it a few times its not sexually transmitted. Make sur u urinate before and after sex if your boyfriend cums inside of u dont let it stay isnside of u make sure u pee immediately afterwards. Take showers instead of baths when takin baths the dirt from your body goes in ur vagina i use to get bv all the time because i was doing all those things  once i stopped the bv never returned i havent had bv in over 2 years i use to smell so fishy at one time. Go to the dr.

It's probably bacterial vaginosis or BV. It's as common as a yeast infection and you have to go to a doctor to have Flagyl  prescribed and it goes away almost immediately.I too have a good smelling vagina normally and when it smelled all of a sudden like rotten meat I totally freaked out.It is caused by common bacteria entering the vagina and it's not an STD.

Sounds like BV.  See your doc, you'll need antibiotics, and I think your boyfriend might need to be treated at the same time to keep from passing the bacteria back and forth.

You call your doc and ask the nurse..I've had mirena almost two years and this year I started having a nasty smell so I am having it removed because of all the other issues I've had with it and now a smell! Thats it for me but just call the nurse it could be BV and I don't know how to spell it out but its a bacteria that builds up and a prescription will make it go away. Nothing major though.
