birth control and pregnancy

Before I went on birth control I was on a 32 day menstrual cycle, but while on birth control it changed to a 28 day cycle. I just got off of birth control, and I'm wondering whether I will continue on a 28 day cycle or whether it will go back to a 32 day cycle.

its hard to say if your body will return to its normal 32 day cycle...i tend to think it would...you might have a few irregular periods for a few months until your body is able to regulate itself...i would wait for about 2 months at least to see what your cycles are like...that way you will be able to get a better idea of your ovulation dates and that will be helpful when trying to get pregnant. i had 28/29 day cycles before BC and it only took me about a month and a half to get pregnant (stopped pill 3 days before 'sugar pill', had a regular period following month, the next month i found out i was pregnant...my LMP was june 18)

hopefully someone who normally has a longer cycle will see this and will be able to give you some insight...im not much help since my cycles were already the same as what the BCP makes you have

GOOD LUCK!!

If your on the BC pill, it should go back to a 28 day cycle since that's what the birth control packs are. They are 28 days. Three weeks, and then once you start taking the placebos it takes about 2-3 days aftr your last active pill to start your period, then  once that week is up, whatever day you started taking the pills to begin with on, you'll start that pill pack, and the bleeding should stop the next day. In most cases.. but some times your body reacts differently to certain types of medications, so you might just have to wait and see.

I guess you'll just have to allow your body to adjust to it's own rhythm again now that you're off BCP. Depending on how long you were on them for perhaps your age now means that your cycles will have changed anyhow. They can tend to do this as we get older. Differ from early twenties to late twenties and change again in your thirties. So, allow several months and track your cycles as you go to see a pattern. Or they might just go back to being regular again (lucky you if that happens!).
