Pregnancy

I was due to have my period September 2, now September 7. I took a test the morning I was due (2) and it was negative. I then took another test on the 6th and it too was negative. I have had sore breasts but that is about it. I also only had sore breast when I was pregnant with my daughter. I don't know what to do, should I assume the test was right and I am not pregnant. I am due to have an xray next week and fear that I should cancel if there is a possiblity I am pregnant. Any ideas? How accurate are HPTs?

I am 5 weeks now and this is my fourth pregnancy. Two in which were miscarriages but I have a healthy 3 year old girl. I noticed that when I was wiping myself, I was bleeding and had ultrasounds and came back the next day and miscarried. The doctor told me that some vaginal bleeding is normal but for me it wasn't. I would be a little worried but not too much unless you start to bleed more heavily. Don't have sex until you find out everything is fine with the baby. I wish you the best.

Hi! I used to believe in HPT's. But about eight weeks ago I was late on my period which is not normal for me. I took 1 HPT after one week missed and it came back negative. I took another 2 weeks after my missed period and again it was negative. About 2 days later I was just feeling nausa, breast hurting and headaches, I just knew something was not right so I left for lunch and bought another test, took it at work, thinking it would say the same thing the others said, but to my suprise it was positive. I took another the next morning just to be sure and it was positive. I have seen my doctor I was pregnant but unfortunantly I did suffer a miscarriage August 26. My advice to you would be to definetly get blood work done to sure you are not pregnant. I would not have the x-ray done without the results from the blood work. Good Luck to you..........I hope I was of some help.

Sincerely,
Kitten

HPT's are very accurate, especially 5 days after your missed period, so it's doubtful you are pg.  All of this stress about the possibility of being pg is probably throwing off your schedule.

I recently had this happen to me - I was 6 days late, never been that late in my life, and it was just a fluke.  I understand your concern though.

So, just take another hpt the morning of your x-ray, if you have not started your period.  Good luck.

HPTs are generally pretty good. That being said, I would get a bHCG (blood) test done by your doctor before you have any xrays.
As a former xray tech, we only like to do xrays in the first ten days after the first day of your last period, if there is any chance of preg. If you find out you are preg after the xray, you could have exposed the baby to xrays at a stage that is critical in how they form. Better safe than sorrry.

I would keep the appt to see if your period comes. If not, rebook your appt OR have the blood test. Good luck! S.
