Spotting before period

I had a light pink/dark brown very light spotting two days before I should have gotten my period, I thought nothing of it since it was only a couple of days and periods aren't perfectly regular, however, it stopped and I should have gotten my period yesterday, but didn't.

Is there any reason for concern? I have never had spotting in between periods before.

I've done some research on this to find possible causes for the spotting and it's possible it was just pre menstrual shedding and my period is a few days late, however, it also seems to be a symptom of pregnancy, I am not sexually active, however my boyfriend and I attempted sex two weeks ago but due to circumstances (being interupted by the doorbell) couldn't. The head of his penis was inside me for a few seconds however, but he didn't ***... is there any possibility that I might be pregnant? If not, what are other possible causes of the spotting?

I am on the birth control pill and it's a 21 day cycle with no sugar pills.  I always finish taking my last pill on a thursday and then do not get my period until the 5th day of my pill free zone, tuesday.  This always works out perfectly and i've been on the pill for over a year now.  Yesterday was Thursday , so I took my last pill.  That very same night I noticed brownish blood spotting that was very light.  I do have sex but I have always taken my pill every morning.  I took two pills about 8 hours late on different dates, but because my boyfriend lives out of town we did not have sex for at least a week before both of those days.  I'm wondering how possible this is a sign that I could be pregnant.  My period is always like clockwork.

Don't get all bent out of shape. The possibility of you be pregnant is not really an issue, if you did not have sex. Your period may just be late, however if you stress about it, you may miss it. Check out some of the forums they explain how spotting sometimes occurs for many reasons such as anxiety, stress, overexercizing, and even differences in schedules.
