Hi there.  Well, first let me just say this as I am a mom myself.  It's not weird to ask your mom!  We LOVE to help and want to help and sometimes don't offer for fear of infringing on our child's 'space'.  But your mom wouldn't think it is weird at all if you asked her and would probably love to begin having important discussions with you about 'woman' stuff. So, consider talking to her.

But otherwise, tampons are easy to use.  Make sure you get a thinner one to start and it is personal preference for what type of applicator.  The plastic applicator brands seem pretty easy to start with.  Sit on toilet, slide in, keep fingers midway and pull back the applicator which leaves the tampon in place.  Wa la.  Done.  Dispose of (not in toilet).  Then strings hang out for the tampon and you use those to remove it from you at the appropriate time.  I believe there are instructions with the tampons as well.  Try to relax when inserting.

But talk to your mom---  she'll want to help you and not think it is weird at all.  I promise!  And SHE will give you the best advice and information!!  good luck
