Terrified of a Pap

Ever since I was younger I have hated my vaginal area. I always felt like there was something wrong with me and that I was "ugly" down there. My labia are longer, and just ugly. I am now in my late teens and my period has been messing up. I need to be put on birth control for that and sexual reasons. Only one person ( my boyfriend of many years ) has seen me naked since i was very young and I am terrified to get put on the pill, because of the pap. i am afraid the doctor will tell me something is wrong with me, or tell me i have an ugly vagina or something of that region. i do not know what to do. this is probably my greatest fear.

It's not as bad as you think it's going to be!! No vagina is the same... different pigmentations, shapes.. et cetera. Personally I don't feel they were meant to be "pretty"... and trust me.. the doctor has seen just about all there is to see. There are women out there who are not into keeping themselves clean and the doctor would much rather see an "ugly" vagina than have to see and smell an icky one. By all means, if you would feel more comfortable with a female gyno, find one.. even if you have to travel a bit. I really wouldn't worry about what the doctor might think of how it looks, imagine what a woman who has had several children naturally looks like!!

You'll be fine, I promise!
