I really find plain old ibuprofen to be the best for cramps.  I take the max dose of 800 mg.  overall, if you hydrate and drink extra water leading up to it, exercise on a regular basis and eat well, they do seem to be less for me.  Some women do like a heating pad.  And we have times in our life in which cramps are worse than others so don't think this has to be the rest of your life having horrible cramps!  Hang in there.
