Update and thanks

I posted earlier in the week and was going crazy because I'd quit smoking and didn't know what to do with myself.  I just wanted to let you know that I did NOT cave in and go to the store to buy cigarettes.  I made it through that night (I actually went to bed!), and each day is getting easier now.  I don't know if the hypnosis helped or not, but after getting the nicotine out of my system ( I believe I was told that was day 3) things have gotten much better.  I still have cravings now and then, but nothing like the other night.  I know I have a LONG road ahead of me (I'm a little over 4 days into it), but I'm glad that I posted the other night and got some feedback.  It really helped me!!!  Thanks especially to sbj and pgb!!!!  :-) Hope you guys have a great weekend!

It wasn't bad at all since I had company and was so busy that I didn't think about it until I dropped her off at the airport!  Thank God I didn't have any with me.  Thanks for the inspiration!

Well Done!!!!

Whoa!!  You've gone three days?  You've made it past the hard spots for the most part!!  Are you going to continue?  That's awesome!  Days 2 & 3 were very hard for me.  Then on Saturday, I cried a lot....for no apparent reason.  That is SO not like me.  I'm really not a crier at all.  Today is better.  I'm on day 7.  I'm still not sleeping well, but am going to visit my doc on Thursday.  I have big black circles under my eyes!!  BUT, I'm doing my body good (I keep telling myself this).  :>)

Sorry I haven't checked in on you.  I have company from out of town and I never had a chance to get online.  I am so proud of you!  Great job and hang in there!

Btw, I haven't had one in 3 days either because of guests and I always feel like I have to hide it.  I am going to try to continue it as well!

Thanks for the encouragement, you guys.  I'm doing much better today after a not so good day yesterday.  I felt like crying the entire day.  Not because I wanted a cig, either!  Just because I felt sad and I don't know why!!
Today is a much better day.  Day 6.....woo-hoooooo!!!!!  (I'm obviously on the top of the hill of the rollercoaster today).
:-)
pgb - I'll keep you posted!

I too quit smoking when I was pregnant, and I too gained a ton of weight (68lbs total during my pregnancy). I never picked up another cigarette again though. I am currently pregnant with baby #2. My dh still smokes but does it outside. When he comes in I almost get sick, I can't believe that it what I used to smell like, it's AWFUL!!

Good for you for quitting, and your right each day it will get easier.

That is awesome!  I quit nearly five years ago. I got pregnant and after I had him I did not even turn back.  You really must turn your cravings into something positive though.....Some people subsitute their cravings for food.....like me and gain a ton of wieght.  I gain nearlly one hundred pounds and I am still trying to loose it and my son is four.  So when you get one go excercise.  Instead of running to the fridge.

I am a smoker. I am very proud of you. I know it's hard. My friend quit for 2 wks. she cried the first few days, but like you said after the 3rd day she was ok. She had a mc and started back. I guess I can't blame her. she is going to try to quit again and has been on me to stop too. I am thinking about it. I am such a chicken!! It gives me hope when I hear of sucess stories. Congradulations!!

I'll be here for you when you do!!  My doc always tells me that I have a wheeze.  I had pneumonia twice as a kid and twice as an adult.  My lungs are damaged.  I am NOT doing myself any favors smoking.  It's so hard though.  You don't know how bad I'd love to be puffing one right now!!  But instead, I'm "smoking" a pretzel rod.  Sheeesh.  I'm pathetic!!!  :-)
Seriously, though - if you decide to quit, I have an awesome support website to share with you.

Do that!  That sounds like fun.  The doc told me today that I definately have a wheeze going on again!  Then I got the smoking "TALK"  again.  One of these days I am going to have to "Cowgirl Up" and do it myself.

The boys are liking me better these days!!!  hahaha   It's so hard to explain to them what it's like, because (thank goodness) they've never smoked or been addicted to anything.  At least they're not tip-toeing around me anymore.  It was horrible.
You're right.  I need to put the $5 I was spending every day (OMG.....that should add up fast!) in a jar.  Then maybe we can go on a real nice spring break!!  Thanks for the suggestion!!

Cool!!  Glad to hear you are feeling better!  How do those boys like their mom now?  I think you should find something you really want, buy a piggy bank & put all the money you would've spent on cig. in it, & when you get enough, go buy it.  You deserve it!!!
