Vaginal Irritation

Hello - I've been experiencing ongoing painful itching and irritation in both my vaginal and anal area for nearly 2 months. I've been tested for everything under the sun (STDs, yeast, bacteria) and everything comes back clean.

I've been put on steroid creams, used diaper rash cream and countless other remedies and have no relief. I'm at my wit's end.

I have no irregular discharge. The areas are just very irritated. I have noticed that when I have to go to the bathroom, the urge is instant. I HAVE to go right away. But I have also been tested for UTI and that came back negative as well.

Does anyone have any idea what else this could be? My doctors don't seem overly concerned but I'm in constant pain and just want relief.

Hi, you poor dear person.  I think I have similar to you and have had this now for 3 years!  I have had all the tests and swabs done and nothing has come forward.  I do have fibromyalgia so was wondering if it is a part of that complaint?  It started on the vagina which was very red and swollen but has spread to the anal area as well.  I went to the Dr. last week and wanted a referral to a skin specialist and she had a look and said "no, you look fine now"  I am using an all round fungal and thrush cream which is helping a little but never clears it up.  I am going to go to another Dr. for a referral next week - if they give me one, they aren't the ones suffering.  I was unable to wear under wear for 2 years but can now.   I find the burning is terrible and it extends right up to my tail bone.  Sometimes the burning goes down the back of the legs too but the vagina and anus is just terrible, the only relief I get is if I lay down and rest.  If I find ant cure I will let you know.  GOD BLESS.  VAL. x

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
In absence of infection and STD’s, itchy irritated vagina and anus can be due to a number of causes. First of all it can be due to allergic reaction or contact dermatitis to your undergarments, sanitary napkins or tampons, soaps etc. There is no change in the colour or smell of discharge in this case.

You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.

For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used. Also use good quality moisturizers and wear cotton clothes.

If the symptoms persist then get it evaluated from a dermatologist.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
