Vaginal Itch

I've been dealing with a very unpleasant situation caused by vaginal itch. I have no discharge, but need to scratch constantly, it's been very dry - could it be caused by that? I change my underwear twice a day, keep clean etc.. the only problem is that I eat a lot of sugar, more then most people....could it be a yeast infection or a sign of too much sugar in my blood? Thanks

I, too, have been experiencing vaginal itching & burning (no discharge) for several months. I went to my gyn and was put on medication for a yeast infection. No help at all. The itching & burning are as bad as ever. I use unscented soap (laundry, too) and wear cotton underwear. I have also tried otc products, ie: Vagisil with no results.I don't know if age is a factor; I am 58 and had a hysterectomy 28 years ago, without hormone treatment (because of cancer) Help!

1)Switch to all cotton underwear
2)Wash your clothes in unscented detergent
3) Use an unscented hypoallergenic vaginal soap...ie one my massingil (sp)

This should rule out an allergic reaction. AND yes diet can cause weird things to happen down there.  However, you can always grab an over-the-counter yeast infection treatment to be sure.

Hope this helps...

Yes, dry skin can be very itchy. But do you have any other symptoms? Soreness, redness, swelling and/or an odor? Have you been sexually active recently? If you have been, I would suggest a trip to the GYN to rule out any STD's. But in the time being, they sell over the counter vaginal infection screening kits made by Vagisil I believe. You could pick one up and see what it says. If it comes back negative for anything, then you may need to look into some vaginal moisturizer.
