What does this mean??

I am very scared right now.

Ihad a Mirena IUD placed in Feb of this year. A few weeks into it, I was having bad pain. I called my DR and told him and his nurse said that it was just my body adjusting to the IUD.

Well, on April 6th I was rushed to the ER in severe pain, the ER Doc took out the IUD and diagnosed me with non sexually transmitted pelvic inflammatory disease. I spent 2 days inpatient on IV antibiotics followed by 2 weeks of antibioticas at home.

I had a transvaginal US done and it says my left ovary is "fixed" does this mean adhesions? My GYN has suggested a hysterectomy.

Before the IUD I was NORMAL and fertile. Now 75% of my fertility is lost.

I just don't understand what a "fixed" ovary is.

Thanks in advance

I have been having lots of problems, went to see gyn, got to have laparoscopy and also hysteroscopy. ALSO, I am 46, and I have asked constantly about having my iud removed but they said i didnt need to now as i am over 40, (it has been in there 9 yrs)
but when i got examined, he said it should definately come out, but there were no threads to be seen, I just hope I can get to the bottom of whats wrong with me, im fed up of pain, scared there is something serious, getting more and more different pains and symptoms every day, and not getting anywhere near sorted. IM SCARED

Wow that is terrible what happened to you. I have the copper IUD and I'm ready to remove it due to the constant bleeding and spotting but what happened to you is serious. I wouldn't do a hysterectomy without doing your research and getting second or third opinions. Please keep us posted on your progress. I wish you all the best of luck and like the other person said, be assertive with your health. You can't put all your faith in doctors these days which is sad. Be your own advocate and educate yourself on all the options so you can make informed decisions. Be well.

I'm sorry this happened to you. I know that one of the possible risks/effects of
the Mirena IUD can be a PID.   I would get a second opinion from another GYN before you get a hysterectomy and start doing your own research re: Mirena. I started researching Mirena IUD and found many women having health issues that they believe is related to their IUD.
I just had my Mirena IUD taken out last week due to unexplained changes in my health for the past several months. I had gone to my GYN, primary care physician,GI doctor, and an ER doctor - all with no explanations for my symptoms.  Only time will tell if the IUD was the cause of my symptoms.
All I know is...I feeling better already....but not completey rid of my all my symptoms.

Be as assertive as you can with your own health.   Best Wishes.
