birth control for dummies, or A dummy

I have been taking Yasmin birth control pills for about 2 weeks now and had a question about it. Would you say that birth control pills are like condoms for women? if this is so, (and assuming my partner does not have any STD's) does this mean it will be ok for my partner to go condom-less and *** inside of me and i will not get pregnant? after all, birth control is a contraceptive right? I just want to make sure if i will not get pregnant while on the pill and while my partner goes without a condom.

I know this is probally stupid question but I've been taking birth control for one year now and have recently moved so I had my last pack in Dec. of 2006. I hadn't had my period during Jan 2007 but started it on Feb 11,2007 and during that week it was light but had been getting heavier and i'm on my second week and its been extremmly heavy. Even before I was on birthcontrol it was heavy but just for a week. Is this normal for me to have it this long? I'm planning on going back on birthcontrol soon I've finally found a place to go. But now I'm worried that I don't want to go with my period? Could we go to the Dr while we are on our period?

Doctors stress that you should use another form of birth control, i.e. condoms, during your first 4 weeks of starting birth control.  However, it only takes a week or two for the birth control to trick your body in to being pregnant.  Nonetheless, every woman is different & no one can really say for sure.  I think your better safe using the extra contraceptive for the next 2 weeks.

Birth Control is not 100% effective, but too close to complain, at least for me.  I have been on birth control for over 5 years now and have not gotten pregnant by having unprotected sex with my husband.  You do have to watch your other medication and see if it will go against your pill.  That happened to me and I became pregnant, but ended in a miscarriage.  Other than that...and that was my fault, I have been very lucky.  Too many women to count use it only as a contraceptive and it works.  You just need to keep using a condom until the time that your doctor told you was the "safe time" to start going without a condom.  Good luck!
