birth control?

So I am in college and am sexually active. I also have been experiencing irregular periods for about the last year.
I was wondering about what birth control might be able to help, also is a pap smear recommended?

Pap smears are recommended six months following beginning sexual activity or at age 21, whichever is first.  Your doctor will be able to help you choose the birth control that is right for your lifestyle and body.  There are so many options from various pills, IUDs (hormonal and non-hormonal), the patch, the implant, the shot, the NuvaRing, etc., that your doctor will discuss them with you and find out which seems best for your lifestyle.

The doctor will usually want to give a pap before giving you birth control. Talk to your doctor about which one will be best for you and regulating your cycles.
