My doctors have always required a yearly Pap. Anytime you get medication, they usually do do an exam. Especially, a medication you take often.
It depends on your age. Typically, when you're first put on bcp, if you are under 18, they will want to do a yearly exam (papsmear). After 21, if the previous tests all came back normal, they typically do one every other year. Typically, bcp can be bought month by month, 3 months at one time, or a year's supply. If you get a year's supply, they'll probably want to do an exam when you refill. If you get a month to month or 3 month, they won't. But, when your yearly refill runs out, they will want to check you. I don't think getting bcp at the Health Department require an exam, so there's that option too. If you're concerned to go get more bcp because you don't want an exam, you're kinda' out of luck. It's not fun but it's part of being a woman and taking care of yourself. It's always good to know if your body is working properly and sometimes the only way to know is to get in there and look. Good luck.
