I asked my boyfriend to take a look at it and he says there doesnt seem to be any cuts that it is just red, what might this be? and is it curable?

It's fine to have sex on your period.  Just be sure to clean up afterward just as well (if not better) than any other time.  But anyway, it sounds like a UTI.  A simple antibiotic will clear it up.  If you have Kaiser, you can call the advice nurse and describe your symptoms, and they can prescribe it over the phone.  If not, you'll probably have to go to see your doctor.

Sounds like a UTI. You may need an antibiotic. Go to the doctor and they'll do a urine test!

having sex usually irritates the area for a while and having it during ur period when ur already bleeding and ur cervix is irritated will cause more complications. it cud b that or it cud b just a UTI thats also irritated by sex. in General its best not to have sex while on ur period to avoid complications and reduce chances of catching any infections.
