can women get pregnant while on the depo shot?

so i am on the depo shot every 3 months i get the shot. i have been on it for about a year and a half. some people dont get there period while on it only in the beginning,well i get my period right before i get my shot. my boyfriend and i have been unprotected sex and i got my shot last Wednesday and still havent had my period. like last month i took pregnancy test just in case they all turned out negative but i read that it could also be to early to tell. and lately i have been moody,dizzy,stomach hurting all the time,i feel bloated always tired.

I got on the depo in dec. after I had my son. I got off of it in march due to I had heavy bleeding non stop out my cooch and my reerend. Ive been having pregnancy symthoms and I feel movement in my stomach. I was told by many doctors you can still get pregnant while being on the shot. See I conceieved my son while I was on Yaz! The one time a month pill I never missed it. I had my period with both my kids through out my pregnancy. Now the only way the doctors found this baby was through an ultra sound all my HPT's and my blood work kept comming back negative due to the Depo does bring down your hgc levels in your pee and in your blood streem. My best friend was on the shot and she didnt even know she was pregnant kept getting her shot and popped out a baby. The Depo is also in your system 6 months after you stop the shot but doesnt protect you from getting pregnant. The doctor said I got pregnant while being on the shot. Im glad I stopped the shot when I did due to this pregnancy because for some people it can cause a miscariage and you wouldnt even know it. because you will bleed it out and its too small to see. Hi Rissa,
I was on the shot for 3 years. The only time I had my period was right before my shot was due, and it only lasted a couple of days and was not heavy.  I think the longer you are on the shot, the less likely you are to become pregnant. With being on it a year I would assume that you are not pregnant. Most pregnancy tests can tell really quickly if you are pregnant. I'd retest in a couple of days and then not worry about it again.

Yes, you can get pregnant while on the shot. My niece was conceived while my sister was on it. The shot can prevent you from having your period at any point in time, and the symptoms you listed could be from the shot. Your best bet would be to test yourself in a week or so if your period still hasn't came.
