Definitely get an MRI, and if they suspect endometriosis you might get a referral to someone who specializes in finding it by laparascopic examination; not all doctors are equal when it comes to finding it and taking it off.
i had my SIS this afternoon. they said i have an arcuate uterus. i am waiting for my ob/gyn to call me and discuss this with me. yes. i feel that the doctors are really grasping for answers. i dont think they really believe me. the doctor that i saw today did mention getting an MRI of my abdomen. i will talk to my doctor and see what he says. they have checked for retained placenta a few times after my d&c but they have come back empty. i am not sure if they have checked for endomedtriosis
Thing is, I can't see a bicornuate uterus by itself as causing your issue, unless it is something else (and new) in the uterus such as scar tissue. The gold standard for finding out what it going on with a uterus is an MRI, unless of course they do an operation and actually look at it. But your pain is a total catalogue of new woes, and a bicornuate uterus (if you have one) will have been with you for your whole life. If it were to cause you acute pain, you would have known by now, either when you were born or when you went through puberty. Besides, a uterus merely being bicornuate is not by itself a cause of pain. It sounds like your doctor is grasping at straws. I'd be more suspicious of retained tissue or endometriosis.
sorry, i probably used the wrong abreviation. i have to have a saline sonogram to cxonfirm the diagnosis of bicornuate uterus. i did not have an mri of my uterus. i did have a cat scan with iv contrast of my entire abdomen and they did not mention anything about my uterus. that was in june/july. march was when i had the retained placenta. (4 weeks postpartum) i was laying on the couch and something ruptured. there was blood EVERYWHERE. i was told that the retained placenta was an entire lobe. hope this helps
You need to get a HIS for poss bicornuate uterus? What is a HIS? I looked in a medical-abbreviations list, and couldn't find it.
Have you had an MRI of your uterus? What did it show? It surely would have shown if your uterus still had retained tissue and also if it was bicornuate.
