faint positive on hpt and spotting

My period was a week late and then I started having brown spotting for almost a week. I actually bled for one day and then went back to spotting for a week. A friend told me to take another hpt so I did this morning and it had a faint line in the positive line. The control line was really dark.  I'm just confused about what's going on with my body. Btw, I've been off of birth control since June of this year. I don't know if I could be pregnant or not. Anyone have any helpful advice?

Thanks for the advice! I'm going to take another test in the morning and see what it does.  I'm going to make me a dr's appointment as soon as possible but I will be a new patient wherever I go so it may take a while to get in somewhere.

Yes, you could be pregnant.  Generally, a positive is a positive no matter how faint.  As the above post says, sometimes spotting happens during pregnancy and is not a big deal.  However, it can also be an indication of a problem.  Call the doctor right away and explain what is going on.

If you had a faint positive and spotting then you need to see the Dr.
There are reasons women spot during pregnancy that are common, but I would schedule an appt and find out what is going on. Good luck!
