I know someone who has a condition similiar to this.  His body makes his heart stop briefly after an injury and he gets dizzy and passes out.  Even if he cuts himself shaving he has to go sit down b/c he knows he will pass out.  His doctor told him about this condition were your brain overreacts to minor things and it is trying to protect it self by slowing down.  I will ask him if there is a name for it for you tomorrow.

Thanks,

I don't think its anything serious, at least i hope not, she has no problems what so ever, only when she gets hurt.

So maybe its not something to worry about, but i welcome any other imput aswell.

Thanks

Hi superdude1,

Sorry about your Mom. The only thing I can say is do try and get her to see a doctor.

I'm not a doc, but just out of curiosity, you mention she banged her knee... was this just under the kneecap (i.e. the tendon)? I've done that before with the tendon in the elbow, and passed out very briefly once (when my cousin jokingly banged my elbow at lunch!) and the second time very nearly (had to lie down because blood pressure dropped so low). These were minor injuries (I wouldn't even say injuries actually), but my understanding is that their location can play havoc with the nerves in some people. One result can be slowing the heart rate if I remember correctly.

However, being 23, the issues may be very different, so don't go by what happened with me!

Bottom line: you say this is something new for her, so definitely get it checked out. At the very least, the doctor will be able to give you a decent explanation!

All the best,
A.
