You can call your Pharmacist that filled the script and ask if that is a side affect of the meds you are taking, or if it could happen by taking the meds and eating or drinking certain things. And I too have the exact same thing happen if I chew a Pepto, freaked me out the first time! LOL
If the Pharmacist doesn't have any answers then give your Doc a call. Good luck and let us know what it was.

I have not chewed any pepto bismal or had any piercing but I do have an upset stomach and cough so my doctor put me on a cause of antibiotics called MINOCIN MR.

I totally agree - WHENEVER I (or anyone else in my family) have chewed Pepto Bismal, we wake up with the back of our tongues black.  I once asked the pharmacist, and he said it was fine and would not cause any harm.  He was not sure what it was caused by though.  I would be curious to know if you did chew any!  Good luck

Did you by any chance eat chewable Pepto Bismal?  You know to relieve an upset stomach.  I have found that if I have any of those and don't brush my teeth or tongue the remaining film turns black over a couple hours.
Just a thought.

Otherwise, I am not sure why it turned black.  i am sorry.
Good luck!

Hi By any chance do you smoke? If you smoke it might be caused from that.Or have you recently had your tongue pierced? If you took out your stud, maybe your tongue has had an allergic reaction to the metal.Concuslt with your doctor first, not your dentist.Your dentist might not know what is going on.Take care of your self.TNT406
