Hello there.. Ok so I did not go two years without a period but almost a year and then again almost a year.. And then later I went almost 5 years contant bleeding.. it took them a while but with metformin they finally got me to stop and I was diagnosed with PCOS.  I would ask about that if I were you.  they put me on provera for a while to go on a normal period.
You can make it through this.  It took a while and a lot of help but I can tell you I am now 5 weeks pregnant with my first child.  I am under close watch but am so excited..
But yes as Elrai said there are many reasons.  Just ask your doctor a lot of questions and make him/her see you as an individual...
you can email me if you have any questions too

Hello,
there are several main things that can effect your period:-
-Weight, being over or under the suggested weight
-Incorrect diet
-Anemia
-Stress/Anxiety

The first step to trying to regain fertility in a lot of cases and what most fertility specialists will say is "have a healthy lifestyle".
I personally have a history of annorexic girlfriends who have all had fertility problems due to lack of the correct vitamins and anemia, but this plays both ways as being overweight can also have adverse effects on fertility.
Try and go for walks, eat your 5 a day and make sure you have a reasonable level of iron intake from meets as well as eating fish often.

Now, anxiety and stress can cause your period to be late or even not to come at all, this is due to your body deciding it would be better for it to concentrate on you as your are less likely to be successful as a parent if you are suffering from stress.
Stress again can be lowered by relaxing walks in the park.
Sex is also known to increase fetility and cause periods due to it "sparking" the female reproductive cycle.

Smoking and high levels of alcohol consumption DO NOT constitute a healthy lifestyle, neither does high fat intake.
If all else fails consult your GP for a simple check up, although this can be embaressing, it is a few minutes of embaressment for a possible lifetime relief, remember these people are trained to help and to be proffessional.

Best Of Luck
Elrai
