Irregular periods are very normal with an Marina IUD, and in time it will probably disappear completely.  However, some people are extremely sensitive to things inside of them.  My sister-in-law tried everything including the NUVAring which is inserted once a month and her body rejected everything that had to be inserted.  If you are one of those people you may not be a  candidate for IUD bedause it will be constant infection.
