I was born premature. Am I infertile?

I was born premature. Am I infertile? ture. I came 3 months early at 2lbs and 2oz. Growing up, I havent had any difficulty doing what any other kids do. I am smart and never had any problems. Ive noticed that my hearing is affected. I have a hard time hearing what someone says unless Im right up next to them. I also have a horrible memory.I can remember what I had done last year and in childhood but I cant remember what someone has just asked me, I cant remember what I was going to get. I cant remember what I am doing. Aside from this, I am happily engaged to my soon to be husband who is also 21. Before I got with my fiance I had been with other guys before. There had been times I should have gotten pregnant but time after time I never was. I am not TTC right now. But I would like to in a few years. Im worried that being born prematurely is affecting my fertility . Has this happened to anyone else and can I please have some advice.

Congratulations! Im really happy for you. I am worried cuz I read that premature adults that have kids are at a greater risk of miscarrying or having stillborn children. I just dont want that for me. And im worried that it could. Ive always had bad things happen to me my entire life and having my own children is the one thing I know that will be the greatest thing to ever happen. And I just dont want something to go wrong. I guess Im just dreaming at this point because i wont have kids for a few more years. I just want a guarantee all is going to be okay when I get to that point. But I know that we cant judge what will happen in the future.

Well, that's good regarding the job.  I'd look into executive function issues (this is part of how the brain works) and symptoms of problems with executive function.  It looks a lot like ADD but doesn't respond to medication.  Instead, things like physical activity help it along with strategized organizational help.  Anyway, that's just fyi as executive function issues are very common with babies born premature.  As far as having a baby, I'm guessing that will be fine.  good luck hon

Im able to remember those things. Its just when someone is talking to me I have a hard time hearing and forget what someone has said shortly after they have said it. Ive always had issues on focusing. It never really hit me until I was in high school and realized that I had a harder time understanding things compared to all of my peers. I had always thought I may have ADHD but never came out and asked or have been tested for it. I do have my period on a regular basis and I do ovulate. It was just in times I knew I should have been pregnant that  I never was. I just want to know if im going to be able to have kids in the future.

If you menstruate on a regular basis, you should be ovulating and then could conceive.

Has anyone talked to you about executive function issues? That is very common with premature babies. They often have brain bleeds that cause this.  If you don't think your cognitive issues such as memory problems, focus issues, etc. will interfere with parenting or caring for a baby, you'll probably be able to conceive.  Are you able to hold a job?? Do your memory and hearing issues interfere with that?  Short term memory is important because that is what makes us remember to take the car seat out of the back of the car at the mall when we are in a hurry, etc.

But most likely  all should be fine.  good luck
