Vaginal itch

Please help..A few years ago my boyfriend had a cold sore that was closed and almost gone and he went down on me. After that my vagina felt a little weird for a few days but no bumps or sores appeared. It felt tingly. Months later I went and got tested and the results were negative for herpes type 1 and 2 and negative for every std. Fast forward to now about 3 days ago I shaved my underpits and vagina with shaving cream. My underpits started feeling very itchy and reddish but went away and then my vagina began to feel sore, not right away, but a few hours after shaving. I didnt think much of it and I had sex with my boyfriend and the soreness worsened a little. And everytime I went to wipe with tissue I would feel the soreness. Now the soreness subsided and my vagina itches. It has been itching for 2 days. I applied vagisil and a&d ointment but it doesnt take all of the itchiness away. I don't see any visible bumps and this is day 3 from shaving. I do see a little redness however. What could this be? What can I do to stop this itching? Also my discharge is returning to white with a little traces of my menstrual cycle because I am coming off of it. Please help and give your best input. I will see a doctor soon but i want to know what you experts think because im driving myself crazy.. Thank you so much

Thank you for responding,

I went to the gyno and she said she didn't see any bumps although I felt like I could see something in the vaginal area. I didn't shave that deep so I feel like it shouldn't even be irritated there. I kept telling her I wanted to get tested for herpes type 1 and 2 but she kept saying that most people have type 1 so it wouldn't matter. But I just wanted to know if I was ever exposed just for my own knowledge. She took a swab culture and found nothing meaning no yeast infection but she didn't test for herpes.

Is it possible that I can have a week worth of itching due to using shaving cream on my vagina? Also how will I ever know if I have genital type 1? Is this an issue that I have to explain to a future sexual partner? And with type 1 on the genital area is it possible to have bumps that don't open, crust, and turn into blisters/sores?
Thank you

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
The soreness could be due to chafing but yeast infection may be responsible for vaginal itching. For yeast infection, take some precautionary measures like avoid wearing tight fitting clothing like jeans and pantyhose and underwear made from synthetic fibres. Remove wet or damp bathing suits immediately after swimming, avoid douching, perfumed soaps, bubble baths and toiletries, change underwear daily, wash underwear in hot water (to destroy fungi) and double rinse (to remove any irritating detergent) and take adequate nutrition and sleep. Also use some antifungal pessaries like clotrimazole, miconazole or nystatin which are available over the counter. If still the symptoms persist then oral antifungals may be needed.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
