large blood clots

I want to know if it's normal to have blood clots discharge from your vaginal when your on your period..I have always had this since I first started my period at the age of 14... and thought it was normal...but now I'm 40...and talking with other woman they don't have the same issue that I have... now I'm very concern and scared something maybe wrong.

Before I got on birth control, I had heavy periods with blood clots.  Blood clots are a perfectly normal part of having a period.  The lining of your uterus needs to be shed!
