longer periods?

For the passed two months that I've had my period, which last 6-7 days, I've had spotting for several days after being off my period.  I haven't had sex since August 14.  My last period was September 3-9.  I've had spotting once a day since the 10th.  Could this be that I'm having a longer, lighter period?  Or it is just spotting?  My whole past two periods have been mostly brown throughout the whole thing.  The spotting has been as well until today it was a brownish pink color.  But only happens once a day.  I haven't done anything sexually to even possibly get pregnant since August 14.  Could stress be the cause, or just my period getting longer, lighter?  Any advice?.
