I have been diagnosed with polycystic ovarian disease. Until recently, I occasionally suffered with lower abdominal pain on either side that would last 1-3 days and disappear. This changed recently when the pain (in my lower right abdomen/pelvis became constant for two weeks and radiated to my back and along my side. It was more intense and unaffected by over the counter medication. I was hospitalized, diagnosed with a ruptured ovarian cyst. For four days after being released, I kept a low-grade fever and the pain persisted, and my blood pressure escalated each day until it reached 147/104. I was re-admitted and had a battery of tests including CTs, sonograms, x-rays, MRIs, ultra sounds of my liver, kidneys, ovaries, spine; an intravaginal ultrasound; a colonoscopy; a lower bowel series... The finding as I was told were: a small amount of free fluid in the pelvis, what "might be a cyst on the liver [but] 'is difficult to characterzie'," a small but unremarkable cyst on the right ovary, an appendix that "appeared thickened", hemmoragic stool and appendicitis. My appendix was removed. One of the cysts on my right ovary was removed. I continue to suffer pain of the same type that I had before surgery and to suffer a low grade fever. I am frightened. Can you shed some light on what might be going on with me?
