major blood clot / bleeding

Hi, I could use some reassurance   ; if you ladies don't mind I could use some advice? I've had irregular periods all my life. But today is the funniest , after my mom dropped me my period started up again and was worse then it was the past 5 days. It was clearing up last night but out of no where this after noon it exploded. I walked home with damp red jeans. It looked like I had a miscarriage. I feel so tired and nauseated. My gp his only suggestion is birth control for my problem. But with birth control? I'd bleed more. I've had over 10 different brands of birth control. My question here is : does anyone have any tips or ideas for me? I am in a lot of pain as we speak.

My question to you is...have you had intercourse recently? Like as in last month? Because you just may have had a miscarriage. Many women experience miscarriages without knowing that they were pregnant. Most times the period will last a little longer,be a little heavier, more painful and will produce blood clots when this happens. The only way that they know that they had been pregnant was if they had done a pregnancy test just before their period was due.
Hubby and I tried for 3 years to have a baby so I know this is true. I would faithfully do an hpg test every month when I thought my period was due. Several times I ran to my ob/gyn because the test said positive...only to have a nasty period a few days later. She's the one that told that this is something that happens to many women.
The way it works is that the egg is fertilized but fails to adhere to the uterine lining. Some call it a chemical pregnancy.
I've also had a few "normal" miscarriages...meaning that I was at least 2 months along when I had them, and that tests were positive that I was prego.
If you haven't had intercourse then I would have your doctor check to see if you have cysts or possibly endo.
Have him check your iron levels as well.
And I hear ya on the birth control pills. I went through every brand available when I was younger...none of them worked for me...made things worse...and on one of them I got pregnant.

Hi I just recently went through a problem like that as well my periods are always regular...I thought i was having a miscarriage in Dec 09 because a few days after i started my period i had large blood clots come out everyday even 3 times a day...they were larger than golf balls at times...This continued for 10 days and i went to see a doctor and they said it was just the lining of my uterus...blood comes from all sorts of places in the uterus and what happened with me was it just all got pilled up and when it came out it came out in clots.....Im not saying this could be wrong with u but its a possibility it falls in the same category....I dont think and hope for you its nothing to serious....So if u dont find your symptoms stopping after a long period of time just see a doctor...They prescribed me PROVERA to stop my bleeding and get it on track.....

Best Luck

Hi, Thx for the suggestions. I went back to see my family gp today and that jerk didnt do any testings. He made me wait 25 mintues over my appointment time then he just says that this is just what irregular period does ...then shoves more birth control at me sends me home. No tests or anything.....
