I am 63, female, 240 pounds. The last few months I have had a problem. The least exertion causes profuse sweating...even in air conditioning. My hair runs a stream sometimes. I have GERD and a hernia. For over a year, the food sticks about half way down when I eat sometimes...I can breathe but my chest hurts and I sweat and have to allow myself to vomit the stuck bite. A year and a half ago I had the pain like happens with the swallow problem and my PCP told me to go to ER. I told them it was esophageal spasms but they ran every cardiac test known to man...kept me 2 days in the hospital on a monitor...then told me my heart was perfect and I could go home. I was still having the spasms....still vomiting when I ate 1/3 of the time, so I asked what to do next. I was told "I don't know, I am a Cardiologist" and the doctor left. My PCP ordered a MBS Study. The tech laid me on my right side and recorded me swallowing a sip of solution, a small bite of bagel, another sip and a small bite of marshmallow. The report said I had no swallow problem. An EGD the year before reported Barrett's Esophagus. Another EGD was run after the swallow test. The surgeon doing the second EGD told me he knew the doc who did the first one and "He is an idiot and doesn't know what he is doing" and my second result showed frequent vomiting and GERD likely. He told me I do NOT have Barrett's...I guess the pathologist was an idiot too???? My niece is a PA and suggested my PCP give me NTG sublingual for the spasms....Works great! The spasms are treated now, but what do I do about the sweating and weakness with ANY exertion (even dressing sometimes) and the food lodging? I take small bites and chew a lot. Help.....I have no insurance so more expensive tests are out of the question.
