Just to let you know that the urine is held in the Bladder.
Normal anaemia is related to your diet.
I have heard that antibiotics can affect the birth control pills. You will need to read to the medication leaflet for more information on that, as I am not 100% sure.
If you did have PCOS, that would have shown up on the ultrasound scan.
With PCOS it is very important to have a healthy and well balanced diet with lots of fresh fruit and veg and lots of fluids and especially water. Facial hair and spots are very common symptoms of PCOS.
What doesn't show up is endometriosis. A laparoscopy is usually done to investigate if that is the case.
I have no idea what the white specks in the urine is. It may be coming from the vagina or from the labial skin.
As the urine specimens were checked out by the laboratory, you can be assured that their results are accurate. It means that there is no infection in the urine.
Finish the course of antibiotics that you are on, unless told to stop by our doctor or gyno.
If you still have a discharge when your period has finished, it may be a good idea to ask your doctor/gyno to take a swab of the discharge. Some infections that are not fungal are treated with Metronizadole and sometimes a pessary is prescribed that is inserted into the vagina.
Fungal problems can take a while to resolve.
Don't use normal soap, bath and shower gels to wash down below. It is very drying and can cause irritation. Use non perfumed soap, soap with the same pH level as our skin, baby washes may be fine.
Only wear cotton underpants, as manmade fibre ones can make you sweat and encourage yeast growth.
Because you have been on an antibiotic, that can encourage yeast growth. This is because the good bacteria is destroyed as well as the bad bacteria.
Although natural yogurt is good to eat to help against fungal infections, don't eat the yogurt at the same time as taking the antibiotic. You should read the medication leaflet as some medications do interact adversely to some foods.
For your very painful periods, I suggest you have a healthy and well balanced diet with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. Avoid sugary foods, processed and junk foods and fizzy drinks. Limit your caffeine drinks. Eat wholemeal rather white products. Drink more fluids and especially water. 2 litres a day is usually recommended, but more if you sweat a lot.
You may also benefit from Evening Primrose Oil. You can purchase the capsules from the large stores that sell vitamins and also from a herbal shop.
Keep a written record of your menstrual cycles and the symptoms that you get and how your periods are (which I have no doubt that you do).
Use a hot water bottle or a heat pack to place on your tummy or your back for pain relief as well as taking pain relief medications as prescribed on the packet. Some people use Ibuprofen, but you need to be careful when taking this medication because it can cause stomach bleeds, kidney and liver failure. If you do decide to take it, always eat something before taking swallowing the medication.
For your soreness down below, have baths with a handful or 2 of porridge oats, and no they won't clog up the plug hole.
Another good soak is having a bath with cupful of Epsom Salts with some baby oil. Epsom Salts are very drying on their own. The Epsom Salts neutralise the pH on the skin, and bugs don't like that.
For the soreness down below, it is highly likely that you will need to be on a course of antifungal medications by way of vaginal cream as well as antifungal medication to take by mouth. It can take many months before these symptoms settle, so hygiene of very important.
It is also very important that both you and your partner gets treated at the same time. Yes, you can pass it back and forth to each other. A doctor may prescribe Flagyl (Metronizadole) for both you and our partner. As well as a pessary for you to insert in the vagina.
Don't have any sex until you are well healed.
Having heavy bleeds can cause anaemia and that will make you feel tired. Ask the doctor to do a blood test to check your iron and vitamin B12 levels.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
They did not check my iron levels but I may ask them to. I do feel anaemic and it runs in my family. I have been feeling slightly fatigued since this UTI started and its worse on period.
I do feel better after my third does of antibiotics. They do not think it went to my kidneys and I sure hope it has not. They think the infection is gone (hurray:))
They think I have PCOS but there is no signs of me having that (no cysts) except for heavy period and cramps, but I feel that a lot of women have this. Usually my BC has really cleared it up. I've been experiencing acne lately & painful period that usually isn't there. It seem to feel like my hormones are a bit out of wack.
I am not overweight in my opinion. I do have curvy figure but I am a healthy athletic girl and usually have no health issues. I actually have been loosing weight recently, though some people say Birth Control makes you gain weight. I have lost about 8 pounds since December 2014 (not sure if that is a good thing with sickness) but I am happy to slim down a bit.
IC is internal cystitis which is chronic blatter inflammation and pain. It is caused from bad infections and such. There is no cure apparently. However, antibiotics completely clear up my symptoms so I am not sure that is what I have. Internal Cystitis is suppose to not clear up with antibiotics. My UTI pain would just come back with not a long course of antibiotics.... and now that I have been on Nutrofurition for two weeks now I feel so much better.
My vagina is so painful though, when i use the restroom there is not burning but just feels like vaginal irritation and soreness. It just feels like its sick :(
UTIs don't cause endometriosis.
Did the doctor check your iron levels when you had the blood test done?
Missing periods and having heavy bleeds can sometimes be because of anaemia. Heavy bleeds, could cause anaemia. If you feel tired all the time, it would be a good idea to get a blood test done to check your iron levels.
So as you do not worry too much about your UTI, I have had to have 3 different antibiotics to clear up a kidney infection recently. So sometimes one course of antibiotics is not enough.
The diet info I gave you my previous message will help with PCOS symptoms, and losing weight if you are overweight.
Sorry, but I do not know what IC means.
Glad that you are feeling a little better.
Thanks for your help! The only real symptoms I seem to have left after everything is a heavy period (not sure what that deal is), the discharge, and vaginal pain through activity and also just touching it is sometimes sore. I guess it is really irritated. Hoping they can clear this up. They did put me on Metronixadole this week for BV thinking its not a yeast infection.
I do believe my urologist swabbed my Vagina to see what was exactly going on. I should get results back in 2 weeks. I am thinking my BC pills might be effected by the antibiotics. Hopefully this heavy period won't be continuous for months. I will go to the gyno if i see a continuing issue.
What is discouraging is that I am only 21 years old, perfectly healthy before all this happened and had 0 blatter problems or vaginal pain throughout any activity. I hope to get back to normal.
My doctor thinks I might have IC because my infection is gone. But, my symptoms are also gone (no burning, urgency, cramps) now that the antibiotic treated the infection. She thinks the second UTI I had was IC and not actually bacteria but I don't necessarily believe that because that doctor did not treat me for that reoccurring infection, a clinic did. I feel like if I had IC, my symptoms would not have gone away with an antibiotic. However, I am really nervous for the future.
She did blood work for my PCOS and said that it came back with a high hormone level or something that possibly meant I had PCOS. But then three months later, an ultrasound came back perfectly normal. I have looked into endometriosis, but before this period, I don't think I have shown those symptoms. Is it possible a UTI can cause endometriosis? Im seriously just thinking my antibiotics might have effected my Birth control.
Seriously thanks for your help your helping me feel better. Anyone else dealing with this please let me know if you are in the same boat!!!

I just wanted to say that they sent off my urine for a culture to a lab for further analysis. This was done by three different doctors and each said it is clear.
Now that I am on the Nutrofurition, my blatter cramps and urinary urgency/buring are gone (hurry). However, I am still having white specks in my urine that is what is really concerning me... any idea what this is?
Also, my period is EXTREMELY heavy this month. I am on birth control pills regulary for bad periods and they usually help. Could all my antibiotics be effecting my hormones? I feel extremely light headed, awful cramps, and that I am loosing a large amount of blood. I don't know if this is connected to my blatter problems or not. I had an ultrasound in december of 2014 because my doctor thinks I have PCOS. I had no problems or cysts. My gyno checked me last week and there was no sign of anything wrong down there too, except discharge/odor. Does anyone think my symptoms might be sign of endometriosis or PCOS?
I am still on diflucan for the yeast infection, symptoms are still there. I am also still on BV medication, not sure if it's working yet. I go back to the doctor in a few weeks, she did a DNA swab on me I guess to find out what's really going on.
I would LOVE any kind of help as I am super upset.
Sounds like you still have a bacterial and fungal infection.
Antibiotics can cause fungal problems and that is why your gyno has given you the Diflucan - this is an antifungal medication.
The Nutrofurantoin is an antibiotic for urinary infections.
If you sent in a urine sample to the laboratory for analysis, they can give the doctor information which antibiotic will kill the bacterial that is causing your infection.
A urine specimen may look clear to you, but it is what is picked up on the urine dip stick or by analysis by the laboratory that matters.
Make sure that you drink lots of fluids and especially water. 2 litres a day is usually recommended, but more if you sweat a lot. Your doctor or urologist may advise you to drink more. Even though it may be uncomfortable to urinate, you still must drink lots of fluids. This will help flush out the bugs.
Sorry, my gyno put me on a longer dose of Diflucan with the Nutrofurition. I messed up in the post.
