post myomectomy surgery

I had a myomectomy surgery 3 months ago for a uterine fibroid tumor.
Two month before surgery I was on Lupron to stop the menstruation. I understood that Lupron stops menstruation for 3 months.
But I still haven't got my period yet since.
What is going on with me? What should I do?
Please help me. Thank you for any advise and help.

My incision was 7cm.  I didn't count the staples.  Based on the scar I would guess about 20 staples.   I never did any real challenging exercises.  I slowly worked back into it.  A little more every day.  My doctor and nurses wouldn't give me any answers about when I would begin exercising.  They said everyone is different.  One also kind of laughed when I asked.

It's good to get an idea what to expect. I'm just past a month now since my abdominal myomectomy and now i feel almost normal, except i've just been eating healthy and not exercising yet just walking. My specialist said at least 6 months too. I think everyone's surgery is different too. Some people had keyhole surgery so i think the recovery time is way different then a major surgery. I know what you mean about the gas lol. My stomach was swollen for 3 weeks and i could not suck my tummy in at all, i guess the stomach muscle was cut through. I had pain till 2 and a half weeks and now my tummy is alot flatter. Morphine is the most horrible drug every, all i felt was grumpy and wanted to throw up and if i did get up i threw up. Never again.
I didn't take anything except Voltaren and panadol.

Hope you have a speedy recovery, it's the best when you have someone to help you around the home x

What a terrific site! I had an abdominal myomectomy on Feb. 21. 17 fibroids were removed- 5 large; 12 small and undetected before surgery. An 18th fibroid was left because of it's proximity to my bladder. You must get a surgeon who won't take unnecessary risks at damaging your other organs and nerves. This is considered MAJOR surgery. While some people may recover in 4 weeks, others will recover in 8 weeks or more. We must be wise about selecting our doctors, ask questions before hand, speak up when we are unsure or feel something is wrong, and ask for help when we need it.
I am 39 years old and want children. I have to wait 6 months for my uterus to completely heal before becoming pregnant. Pregnancy too early can lead to tearing ofthe uterine and bleeding which is harmful to the baby and the mother.
I spent 2 nights in the hospital and had a bad encounter with morphine. I had a bowel movement naturally 3 days after I got home. You do need assistance at home. Kudos to those who did it without any. My husband has been AWESOME (except for the car ride home where I felt every pothole). :) the gas is the worst because of the swelling a pain.
I came on this site to find out how long I will have pain? I am not taking the Percocet but still need some Tylenol at times.

Sisters stay strong and be encouraged!!

wow, you must of been. How big was your incision area? I had a 15cm cut across my stomach, that was stapled by 13 staples together so no way i could of done any gym work. Doctors advise against it as the incision can just open up if you are too active. I would wait at least 2 months just in case, as the cut through the muscles wouldn't of really healed yet, as it takes 3 months for the muscles to build back together properly. You must of been wonder woman

I must have been the lucky one.  I had my abdominal myomectomy on 1/19/12.  It was the size of a 18wk pregnancy.  I was up and walking outdoors by the end of week one and at the gym by the end of week two.  I'm now at week 5 and just started lifting weights again.  I feel great.  The doctor is only making me wait two months before ttc again.  This doesn't sound right to me.  Any opinions on that?

Hi All, I 29 year old who just had an 6inch abdominal myomectomy on 1/2/2012 and i was more worried about my allergic reaction to the morphine then the actually pain. I had an epidural aswell as being under general. I woke up 2 hours later not being able to move my legs, which i couldn't feel any pain.
Next day I stopped taking the morphine and just had panadol and was fine. I went home on the 3/2/2012 and now just taking it easy, just slight pain when i forget in bed and move quickly. I stopped taking anything now it it's day 3, feel fine accept just the area is swollen and hard. I walk like a granny but that's about it. Maybe i was just lucky with having a good pain freshold. I'm even planning to go back to work on Monday 5 days after the surgery. Think my surgeon and doctors think i'm crazy but I just think it's all in your mind more then anything. People tell you things that you should feel or not feel and then you start to believe it. I'm just keeping to rule, don't carry heavy things, vacuum or drive and exercise. Hope everyone elses' surgery goes well too and all the best x
