Not feeling overly excited...

I am about 13 weeks pregnant and I still dont feel that excitement of being pregnant.. I feel a bit more anxiety though that is lightening up.. People around are hyped and totally excited including my boyfriend. Is this normal? One of my friends said during her first pregnancy she didn't feel that type of excite till she felt the first kick.

Hi there.  Well, everyone is going to be different.  If it was unplanned and not the best time . . . you may be feeling realistic about the work that lays ahead.  Babies are wonderful but they change EVERYTHING from time we have to ourselves, our bodies, our relationship with our partner, our finances, etc.  It's normal to be nervous about that.  I was too.  I tried hard for a baby for a long time and was very excited but also nervous about all the change that was coming to me.

I would just take your time and not put pressure on yourself to be excited.  And if you become more and more anxious, talk to your doctor.  Your hormones are changing rapidly and this can cause much emotional turmoil.  If you had underlying anxiety, you may become unbearably anxious during pregnancy and right after.  The right after is something very important for your doctor to know.

Try to exercise regularly, eat right, keep a journal, etc.  This helps with anxiety.  good luck!
