really really late period

Feb 12) first day of last period

March 23) last time my boyfriend and I had sex

I'm 28 days late for my period and I've taken two tests and both came up negative.
First test) April 5th
Second test) April 9th
so I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas on why I still haven't gotten my period?

Hi there.  Welcome.  Sorry you are having this issue.  Always a bit stressful when we seem to miss a period.  First, let me say that we can't rule out pregnancy even though you've had a negative test (well, 2 of them).  Most likely you are not pregnant as the home pregnancy tests are very accurate but there is a very small percentage of women that do not register pregnancy with the urine tests.  That is when a blood test from your doctor comes in.  Again, guessing you are not pregnant but there is a small chance you could be if you have had unprotected sex.

Now, women are late for their periods for a variety of reasons.  The ones mentioned above like stress, illness, changes in routine, weight gain or loss are common culprits to longer than usual cycles.  An issue with your thyroid can also cause this.  I, out of nowhere, started having periods every three to four months due to a slow thyroid.  Very frustrating. Blood work from my doctor determined the cause.  And yes, hormones can be out of whack.  At the same time I had the issue with my thyroid, my body was also producing too much estrogen.  The double whammy!

So, my suggestion is to go ahead and schedule an appointment with your doctor to see what is happening.  Otherwise, wait and see what happens in the next thirty days.  If you don't get a period, then definitely see your doctor.  good luck hon

You may just be late due to stress or sickness, or anything out of the ordinary if you're not pregnant. If you're nervous about it, I'd suggest speaking with your gynecologist to get a better idea about what's going on. You could have your doctor run a blood panel on you to check your hormones and making sure they rise and fall correctly in a cycle
