I have had one shot because of severe bleeding due to a fibroid. It did stop the heavy bleeding for about 1 1/2 months. Then it would start back up for a little bit off and on. After the 3 months, it caused 2 months of spotting and it unbalanced my hormones, also. I am seeing a holistic doctor who is helping me re-balance my hormones, but it is going to take some time. I have also gained about 15 in less than 2 months without changing my eating habits. I pretty much only eat meat, veggies, fruit, and eggs, with a little bit of wheat. I have been moody, extremely irritable, and have difficulty sleeping through the night. I wish my medical doctor would have talked to me about the pros and cons of this shot because I wouldn't have taken it if I knew what it could have done to me. By the way, my fibroid has shrunk tremendously the last 5 months due to a herbal mixture my holistic doctor has given me so that is no long an issue. I don't look 6 months pregnant anymore! :)
Depo shot is the Depo Provera. One piece of advice- STAY AWAY FROM IT! I took it for two years, gained 50 pounds in two months, and got really moody. Also, it totally unbalanced my hormones, and 7 years later, am trying to still balance them out. It is NEVER good to stop your period!
