violent coughing

hi all....im new to this forum..i usually post on the maternal-child one...anyway...ive had this pretty bad cold for about a week...well, i seem to be 'somewhat' better except for a stuffed and very runny nose (i know...tmi) and a pretty bad cough...i have an appt. on monday, but its for a follow up on my pap smear...
im 12 weeks pregnant and the coughing(mostly in the evenings and the morning) is so bad sometimes that it makes me throw up (ive only actually thrown up twice, but ive gagged and 'almost'thrown up a few times) ...i take benadryl-D to help me sleep and halls cough drops during the day..also tylenol when the cough gives me a headache...my question is: is there a chance my coughing could hurt the baby? and do you think its possible i might be developing bronchitis? or something along that line?
would the nurse at my appt be able to answer these questions? would he/she be able to check for bronchitis or pneumonia? a coworker stated that i might be developing pneumonia because i was complaining about my back hurting right about where my lungs would be...but that only happened twice last week and it felt more like i had been standing for too long, or standing/sitting wrong(if that makes sense)

i just really want to kick this thing...ive lost about 5 pounds due to lack of appetite and its really hard for me to take time off work to nurse myself back to health...

any help or advise is greatly appreciated...im sorrie this is so long

Glad to hear your talking to someone soon. I know i have dealt with sinus issues for yrs, and the cough can make you so miserable, i can't imagine being pregnant and coughing like that. Hope all goes well for you.

Have you ever had a sinus infection? I get them often and when i have one i cough like you say you are doing. You might need to call the ER and ask for the dr on call for your dr. See if they can recommend anything for you.
