Possible Ectopic or Cysts (Warning....LONG)

Last Tuesday I had my first positive pregnancy test! And since I have had 10+ test.  I was slightly freaked because we were not trying and we already have two perfect babies! I started spotting two days later and called my OB! Was told to take it easy and that the only thing that could be done so early along ( supposed to be around 5 weeks 3 days at this time) would be to test my HCG levels on Monday and Wednesday! I go for my appointment and it's basically stick me and send me on my way! So I called yesterday which was Tuesday and asked if there was anyway to do an ultrasound to see whats going on since this would be #3 and last was high risk due to placental tear! The ultrasound showed that I had ovulated from my left side but that the sac seemed small! After further investigation the tech explained that it appears I have a large cysts on my left ovary and what appears to be an ectopic pregnancy making the sac they saw a pseudosac! I was told there is a 70% chance that this pregnancy isn't viable and was told to take my second quant test this morning!

My question is...since nothing was seen in either place, the sac or the cysts how do they know where the pregnancy is! There was no yolk no nothing! I was told yesterday that my hormone levels were very high and that they were around 3000 and would have to double to prove an active pregnancy! I am praying with every ounce of my being that my levels are increasing and they are incorrect and I simply have 2 cysts on my ovary and just not far along enough to see anything! Has anyone had anything like this happen to them?
