Severe headaches

I just had a cat scan and an mri.  My brain shows shows severe demyelation and I have an appointment scheduled with a neurologist tomorrow.  I am very worried.  The headaches have been so severe and I am sure that my doctor is leaning towards an MS prognosis.  Just wondered if anyone else has had these symptoms and what has been done for it.  I am 41 years old and really had no symptoms until now.  Thank you

This discussion is related to Constant headache as a result of a demyelinating brain lesion.

Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine her I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that she needs, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about her health concern.

I do sympathize with your daughter’s health concern. It appears that high calcium deposits in brain could be due to hormonal imbalance (eg. pseudohypoparathyriodism), high calcium/vitamin D intake and improper healing of fractured bone in brain. This may result into symptoms of severe headache, cognitive impairment, dementia, and depression as well. . If she suffers continuous headache, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here and can provide you further treatment. Hope this information proves helpful to you.

After a severe car accident my daughter was taken to the hospital. Two Cat scans were completed.  There was concern about the Cat showing bleeding in her brain.  It was determined that it was not bleeding but heavy calcium deposits.  They seemed to be concerned.  She does have severe headaches about 2 to 3 times a week.  In a cat scan about six years ago I was told I have calcium on my brain. Other than an occasional headache I have no other symptoms.   My father died from Alzheimers disease and my mother along with two of my sisters have Thyroid issues.  My one sister was diagnosed with Farr's disease other than emotional issues has no other symptoms..  What does calcium on the brain mean?  Should I be concerned and why?

Your demyelinating disease could be due to multiple sclerosis (most common), optic neuritis, devic’s disease and encephalomyelitis. However, persistent headache is more common with encephalomyelitis, which is inflammation of the brain and spinal cord due to post infection/injury. Other symptoms could be delirium, seizures and coma. But in multiple sclerosis symptoms could be loss of muscle coordination & strength, normal sensation and vision. If you suffer continuous headache, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here and can provide you further treatment.
