breast cyst at 15

i am 15 yrs old and a year and a half back i noticed a hard lump in my left breast. i did not really give it importance at that time but a few months ago i realised that it had grown big and went in for an ultrasound which said it is a benign multilobular breast cyst ,4-5cms. it pains occassionally ,for example, when i over-eat and especially when i am sad or crying. there have been no unusual or irregularities in my periods. i also went in for homeopathy which i stopped after a month and a half as my family doctor advised me to do so. i also consulted a very well known cancer surgeon who said that it is harmless but im little worried now as it has been over 18 months and it has just grown bigger and it has begun to pain quite often. the doctor has asked me to meet him in another 3 months while my periods are on to notice any changes until then, he says, wait and watch. any advice is welcome. thankyou.

Hi,
Cysts are so common that almost every woman will have some during her lifetime.
Breast cysts can appear at any age, in teenagers as well as in older women. These cysts are related to the increasing hormonal fluctuations and the pain is particularly felt prior to the menstrual cycle and subside after the menses finish. When cysts are very large and painful, they can be aspirated by a fine needle, but cysts could also recur.
Avoiding caffeine, (Coffee, chocolate and colas) salty food and fatty food can lessen the pain considerably.
Unfortunately there isn't much one can do about these cysts, many young women have this problem. Seeing your doctor in 3 months is not too long await, and I am sure that something will be done if the doctor deems it necessary.
Take care and best wishes...
