Lung bleeding

I also have suffered with haemoptisis for over 10 years.  It comes and goes.  Sometimes I can go weeks or even months without couging up blood. Sometimes it happens every day.  Usually it comes on after I have started to feel sick, like a cold.  Them, suddenly, I will cough up clots which will be followd by red blood.  It's never that much, probably a tablespoon or two, but its very debilitating since my lungs then hurt for days and I keep up with that cycle,  I have had bronchoscopies, I have been on antibiotics for MAC.  Nothing seems to solve the problem.  It just seems that any infection goes straight to my lungs and starts the cycle.  I would do anything to get top the bottom of it and solve the problem.

I'm not sure what this disease is- I have asthma and sometimes cough up blood.  I have heard that some people use prednisone or cough syrup to prevent infections but I'm not a doctor and don't know if it is safe.

I had MAC 10 years ago,, was cured of MAC after treatment. Through the 18 months of antibiotics for MAC i coughed up blood periodically.
I have minimal bronchiectasis in my right middle lobe and went 8 years with nothing.  No sickness, not blood perfectly healthy.
Wednesday out of the blue i coughed up blood and after spending a night and day in the hospital they said i have an infection in that lobe.  They do not think it is MAC and put me on antibiotics for 2 weeks.  They will wait to see if the sputum grows but hopefully it won't., nor do they think it will.
It is soooo scary coughing up blood. It makes me afraid to live my life
Peggy, have you ever talked about removing the lobe that is causing you so much problems?
