I recently went to the emergency room because of intense abdominal pain and vaginal bleeding after having sexual intercourse. The ER doctor said that is was a cyst that ruptured and ordered an pelvic ultrasound. What i would like to know is the meaning of the ultrasound results, which goes as followed:
The right ovary measues 4.0 x 3.5 x 3.2 cm, there is a complex non-vascular hpoechoic lesion within the right ovary, there is echogenic debris within this lesion. The left ovary measure 2.7 x 2.4 x 1.4 cm, there is a follicular cyst, there is significant fluid within the cul-de-sac with scattered echogenic debris.
The impression was a dominant hypoechoic nonvascular complex cystic lesion within right ovary associated with fairly extensive echogenic fluid with the cul-de-sac suggest pt. had a recent rupture of right ovarian cyst with hemorrhage into the cul-de-sac.
My doctor who received the results only said to tell the OBGYN that i have a complex ovarian cyst, and that i should be seen as soon as possible. Should i be worried? What does all this mean? and what is echogenic debris?
