blood in stool

I am 28 years old and have been noticing blood in stool every couple of weeks that is very liquidy and bright red.  I have had some occasional tightness in the lower left abdomin area.  It only occurs when I have been drinking alcohol the night before.  I am in fair physical shape and eat fairly well.  I am worried that it might be something serious but from reading it sounds like a fissure or hemroid.  I am almost positive it is not a hemroid (don't know what they look like but am told you would know if you had them) but would like to know if I should seek medical advice.

Last Thursday morning I woke up to quite a bit of bright red blood mixed with diahrea along with cramping. I thought it might be hemorroids but it didn't go away, only got worse. We have no health insurance so the next day my husband took me to the public hospital. They did a physical check, (found blood), drew blood, and hooked me up to a IV of clear liquid that they told me was to strengthen my blood. They also took 4 xrays of chest and stomach area. They reported that my blood count was good and they didn't see anything on the xrays. The doctor admitted he is baffled.  He prescribed Cipro 500 mg. twice a day for 3 days. I just finished the medicine and I feel worse now than I did before I went. I think the Cipro gave me worse diahrea aggravating whatever is bleeding up there and the cramping is terrible. I have to wait for my next appointment to come in the mail. I know I will have to get a "scope" done. Not looking forward to it.  I would have made this a question, but it tells me it is full at this time so I decided to post to a couple of other questions in hopes that someone might have this same thing happening.

Anytime there is blood in the stool, you should see a doctor.  However, if it is bright red blood, that would indicate it is not coming from deep within the intestine.  Bright blood would indicate a hemorrhoid (spelling?).  Many people have them without any symptoms.
