Nope - they aren't likely to be due to herpes either.

grace im sorry one last question.. i posted an update on the dermatology section but i dont hing Dr. Rockoff comes back to answer followup questions.
would herpes attack(affect) the whole upperlip during an out break? the reason i ask is that as you ar well aware, during anxiety we notice everything with a microscope that is going on in our bodies... well i noticed all these little white bumps on my upper lip only! greater in number on the corners and sort of scattered on the lip. they have been there for 9 weeks now(maybe longer) since ive noticed them..
now that i know im HSV1 pos. i showed them to my doctor and she was quick to say herpes........BUT 9 weeks for an outbreak? she is refering me to a dermatologist to try to get more answers. i personally think fordyce spots but i guess ill find out.
with your knowledge of HSV is it possible? 9 weeks? they havent changed grown shrank, moved, itched, bursted. thanks
why would you say it was a previous infection? based on statistics? I would also agree on that.
i guess when one dosent do enough research and anxiety is is taking over, all we want is all the tests possible to calm us down. im going to wait for the 12 week mark and call that the magic date and hope for the best!!
I agree that your hsv1 infection is probably a prior infection but not because of the negative igm. The igm should've never been drawn in the first place. It was a waste of your time and money for the most part.

If you test again, wait after 12 weeks. Your results will confirm you don't have hsv2..
Take Care.
thanks, i feel pretty comft. with results but i will still retest in a few to be 100%. the person at the lab explained to me that my HSV1 was probably and old infection due to the fact that my IGM was negative to detect a newer infection.... is this right?
Grace has far better knowledge then I when it comes to herpes. I would take your 2 month results and be very comfortable that you do not have hsv2.
The vast majority of folks will have seroconverted by the 8 week mark. Odds are in your favor that you are hsv2-. It's up to you if you feel it's worthwhile to retest in another 2 months or not.
grace
Anything after 6 weeks especially with no symptoms would be confirmation enough that you do not have hsv 2. Your 8 week results should be very reassuring.
Take Care...
