treating a yeast infection during AF

Can anyone tell me if it is ok to take vaginal tablets during AF. I have a mean yeast infection and the pharamacist gave me fluconizole tablet to take orally and canesten (clotrimazole) to insert intravaginally for 3 nights, but my AF came before I could start the vaginal tabs, just wanted to know if I should still use the meds. The itching is driving me mad. PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE!!!
Thanks
