Confused and Scared

Can anyone please offer advice.
A little over three months ago I was in a relationship and had unprotected sex. Within two or three days I had an itching sensation in my lower region. I immediately broke up with him and refused to talk to him because I assumed he had given me an STD, which he swears he has no symptoms. I first thought it was a yeast infection because I do get those often; however, the medication didn't work. I later found little, I mean TINY, whitish bumps around my labia which have not gone away, popped, nor changed in size. They are also not painful to the touch. I went to the clinic to be examined for all STDs and they said I was all clear. As I was still experiencing pain, I went to my regular doctor who said I had a UTI and gave me meds. A few days after I finished the antibiotics, the pain and itching returned. I guess my questions are: Has anyone who has genital herpes experience non-stop itching for over 3 or 4 months straight?  Also, is it possible to have herpes sores that never change and simply stay there all the time? I don't fit what all the websites say about Genital Herpes; however, those are the typical textbook cases! Correct?
Please, I am really scared and becoming agrivated. Any advice or suggestions whould be greatly appreciated. Thanks

There are over 100 different strains of HPV, 30 of which cause warts.  Not all cases trigger an abnormal smear, and there isn't a tell-all test which can tell if you test positive or negative for a strain of HPV.  A biopsy (taking a tissue sample) of the raised bumps would probably help identify it positively for genital warts.

The fact that the discomfort goes away when you're on antibiotics may indicate that it's a bacterial infection, or there may be a chemical irritant (perhaps a type of soap, feminine product or lubricant).  Increased stress has also been known to cause vaginal itching, also making you more susceptible to other infections.

Thanks for the advice.  Yes I understand.  It's hard to get everything important point across by typing.  Thanks again.

You should have an endocervical culture done and have that sent to the lab to see what, if any, bacteria grows.

And I see your point now.  That's different than what you said first, and its always helpful to have the full details up front.  :)

I have been tested for BV and it was negative.  I also have taken two seperate doses of Diflucan which were ineffective.  As far as the boyfriend situation, we were headed towards a breakup anyways.  Also, when I informed him that I felt he may have given me an STD and that I was really upset and scared (and in pain) he didn't seem to care although he had PREVIOUSLY told me he was clean.  So I feel its not really feel that it was rash to write him off as a jerk.  Any suggestions about what this could be?  Thanks so much for the help.

Have you tested for yeast and bacterial vaginosis?  A lot of yeast strains are now becoming resistant to the over the counter treatments, so you could in fact have yeast.

You can avoid situations like this with your bf by testing before having sex.  It seems a bit rash to just break up with someone before you even have a diagnosis.

Thank you R Johnson for your quick reply.  I had a papsmear shortly after (about a month and a half) the itching started.  It came back normal.  In order to find out about HPV do you have to wait for an abnormal pap or is there another specific test you can do?  I have also just learned about Fordyce Spots through the internet and these look EXACTLY like the constant white bumps I am experiencing.  The only thing is I have the constant itch that (as far as I have learned) is not associated with Fordyce Spots.  Although my symptoms aren't like any typical herpes case, they did show up right after sex. Also, I did experience muscle aches all over my body for a day about three or four weeks after the itching began.  Also, can antibiotics temporarily treat any pain caused by genital herpes? Because the only time I have not experienced any itching, is when I have been on antibiotics.  Thanks so much for your time and advice.

Your symptoms don't seem anything like genital herpes.  They would start off as small bumps and then break out into blisters.  Genital herpes also takes longer than a few days to incubate before showing any symptoms.  Tiny, whitish bumps sound more like genital warts (caused by a strain of HPV).  Genital warts in general are not painful, but they can itch.  Genital warts generally go away by themselves as your immune system will build a resistance to it over time, but there are treatment options should they get excessively large or become a bother.

If you go to a gynecologist, they can test for HPV (usually an abnormal pap smear indicates HPV).  Hope this helps a bit =).
