Enlarged Heart And Pectus Excavatum

I recently have had Pericarditus and went into hospital and suspected one of my valves were not closing properly and that my heart was abnormally large. But after my echo the results are as follows.

Cavity dimensions.(cm)

Aortic Root 3.4
La              2.6
Ivseptum     1.2
POST WALL (Diast)  0.9
lvedd          5.1
lvesd          3.0

Doppler Measurements

e wave velocity        0.9 m/s
a wave velocity        0.6 m/s
e dec time        234ms
e/e ratio          4
s lateral wall 17cm/s
lvot vti     17cm
av vmax       1.2 m/s
pv vmax        0.9m/s

Right heart

Abnormal shaped rv with thickened free wall, ra not clearly viualised, normal sice ivc with full inspiratory collapse

tricuspid valve       trivial tr    p.a. pressure    19mmhg + cvp

now i havent got a clue what this means, but have been told it could be to do with the shape of my chest. I am haveing an ecg tracker for a week then onto see a cardioloist after. But i may be waiting months.

I am 34 fit and healthy firefighter.

Please any answers to what you see would be greatly recieved.

Thank you

Scott

From what you have given me it looks to me like your heart valves are fine. The tricuspid valve leaks a little bit in 90% of the population. Perhaps there is something else leaking that you didn't write down?
It's a little concerning that your right ventricular free wall is thickened-- usually that implies high pressures in the lungs but can be due to other things.I would look into that more closely with a cardiologist if you haven't seen one.
Also, you need to make sure your ejection fraction (how well the heart pumps) is normal given your history of pericarditis (which is an inflammation of the sac around the heart; it can also effect the heart muscle).Did they give you an ejection fraction?

Hi there,

No they did not give me an ejection fraction, i am having an event ecg monitor fitted for 5 days on the 4th November, And i have a nappointment to see a cardiologist on the 17th December.

What other things can cause an rv free thickened wall?

Should i be worrying?

And please what advice would you give to me to ask the cardiologist to investigate when i see him/her please.

Thank you very much for your response.
