future surgery

I have oral herpes.  I need surgery on my wrist.  Will having oral herpes pose complications with any surgery?

chronically sore throats aren't  due to oral herpes.

intubation usually isn't a trigger for oral herpes to reoccur though sometimes the stress of surgery in general can trigger recurrences. If you are concerned, take a 1 day cold sore dose of valtrex or famvir the day prior to surgery.  You can also repeat a few days later if you want for peace of mind.

I am concerned because they will be putting a tube down my throat and if it is already chronically sore will it damage it further?  I guess I can answer my own question--if there is inflammation and it is aggravated, it could cause more problems.

No, your oral herpes is not an issue with wrist surgery.

I don't see why it would but I would go to the herpes forum for best answers. =)
