Donor

Hello

I would really love some info, on how to go about 'Sperm Donors'
I would rather be inseminated, how do you go about it, do you see your doctor? or visit a clinic? Or can it be done on the NHS? If so please can somebody give me some good information, and help! Please :)

it seems so wrong of your doctor,  i was 18 when we found out my bf, now dh has klienfelters syndrome, so we had no choice, im wondering if my age was part of the reason we didnt have treatment until i was 24
we were told you can import from companies called cyro bank and fairfax in us, they cost at least £1000 maybe check with your doctor, hope your doc gets back to you soon

Hi :)

Im not having any luck at the moment, and its really really getting to me.  My doctor hasnt helped at all, she wont let me go on the nhs, she says Im too young, But ive read on different sites, that younger women have had help on the nhs with AI, Im confused! My doctor also said she would find some good private clinics and get back to me about them its been over a week now and she hasnt! :( Ive been searching on the net for private clinics! Its not easy! I will keep in touch with you.. xxx

we also looked at websites, through desparation, on trying to cut out all the waiting, we decided against this
have any of your male friends agreed to be your donor, if you do go this route make sure it's done with a solictor to make sure everyone knows where they stand
are you saying that they refused you AI with ds on nhs that seems a little wrong
i really hope someone comes through for you
please keep in touch and let me know how you get on

xx baby dust and luck your way x

Hello :]

Thanks for replying, wow sounds like alot! I forgot to mention though, that Im single and straight, and want AI , I went to see my doctor, and she told me i wouldnt beable to go on the nhs because its for women over the age of 37, and they have ivf,  i dont need that, just a sperm donor. (Artificial Insemination) She told me to ask any male friends i have, and then she will sort the rest! I also checked a few sperm donor sites, but they all seem rather dodgy, i mentioned this to her, she didnt like the sound of them at all.. - Im thinking also about going to a private clinic, (they can be very expensive) so probably in London or Southampton (England)

So hopefully i'll get lucky!! Baby dust to all x

Hi there
the way we went was, we were trying for 4years without success
so went to GP who sent us for tests at hospital, then after we had the result the hospital discuss your options, we went through the donor route as we had a better chance of concieving
your hospital should then put you in touch with a clinic ours was at a hospital (some hospitals other ivf)
we then went and met our doctors who then did more tests, we were put on the donor sperm waiting list in 2006 be warned it is a long process, we went on nhs which has taken us years, at our hospital they allocate you 3 viles, then after you go back on the waiting list. we had our first iui in 2009 we have since gone on to have a further iui and ivf all of which were unsuccessful, we are currently again waiting on another donor
you can pay to import sperm costs vary,

so your first step would be to visit a doctor, they'll be able to refer you
then tests, the options, then depending on your route waiting list
also before you start treatment you have to have councilling, your clinic will proberly have there own councellor

hope this helps a little
wish you well with your journey xx
