I feel lucky that mine isn't too severe, but sometimes it still bothers me. The blurred vision and gritty feeling is the worst. We'll see what happens with the TED now that I've gotten RAI and am taking steroids. Hopefully it goes away!
Hi Ericamegan, I just read your commentson prisidone and swollen cheeks. I've just come off them after 4 weeks and still have swollen left cheek. Thankyou for sharing your story it has really help me understand that this is normal and not some cancer or growth! My doctor never told me about the swelling he said i would just feel happy! How long does it take to go away completly?
I took them for suspected MG and linchen planus. I dont think I could take them again though.

If you were on them for 4 weeks it will take about 4 weeks to completely get out of your system, but you will be looking better in a couple weeks. It also depends on how large of a dose you were on. I was on a 60mg and tapering for 21/2 months and after a month I looked better, but took another month and a half to look completely back to normal. Good luck. I don't ever want to go on prednisone again unless I HAVE too!
Erica thanks for posting photos like this. I am not sure I would be as brave!! Like you, I have mild TED but nonetheless at its worse stage my neighbours stopped greeting me in the hallway and I realised that they didn't actually recognise me! It was a very scary sad and lonely time. Plus I was very happy with my old face and then I got this ugly horrible version which I hated!! You look great now and in fact didnt look horrendous during TED. You are a very pretty girl but sometimes that compounds matters more as you would notice every single change!! I will send you a private message after the hols with before Graves photo and a photo when TED reared its UGLY head!! Till then stay well and God bless.
Thanks, I try not to feel too sorry for myself. It could be a lot worse. At least I can shut my eyes and I don't have double vision. I've read that cutting caffeine can help, but It's hard to cut out my morning cup. I also take 200mcg selenium and 100mcg of flax oil a day. Seems to help a little bit.
